Crafted in-house · Publication-ready in five business days

The morning arrived the way all good stories do, slowly, and then all at once. She set the manuscript on the table, ran a thumb along its margin, and understood that the words had finally found their shape on the page.

Every line measured, every chapter opening set with the same patient hand. This was a book made to be held.

The same chapter, twice

The same page. A different book.

Same words, same paper. Only the hand that set them changes.

Kind words

What our authors say.

I honestly didn’t realize how much the formatting mattered until I saw the finished files. My manuscript went from looking like a Word document to looking like a real book. The chapter headings, spacing, and overall layout were exactly what I was hoping for.

Lisa Carter

Memoir Author

I was overwhelmed trying to figure out margins, page numbers, headers, and all the technical details for KDP. Everything was handled for me, and the final files uploaded without any issues. It saved me a tremendous amount of time.

Mark Reynolds

Business Author

The formatting was clean, professional, and easy to read. Several people who purchased my book commented on how polished it looked. I would absolutely use this service again for future projects.

Jennifer Walker

Nonfiction Author

As a first-time author, I was nervous about publishing because I didn’t want my book to look self-published. The final product exceeded my expectations and gave me the confidence to move forward with my launch.

Questions

The Author’s Briefing

What do you need from me to start?

Your completed manuscript as a Word document, along with any preferences for trim size, typography, or cover inspiration. From there, we take care of the production process from start to finish.

Is the five-business-day turnaround really five days?

Yes. Production starts where your editor finishes. The five-day clock begins when your final, edited manuscript arrives, whether from your own editor or from our Refinement desk. We schedule every project on a committed production date, so your timeline is reserved in advance, not rushed. Need it sooner? Priority Placement shortens turnaround to three business days, and Front-of-Studio to two business days, subject to availability.

Can I order just the interior, or just a cover?

Yes. Essentials and Imprint are interior-only editions. If you need a cover on its own, or another standalone service such as an audiobook cover, hardcover dust jacket, or additional revisions, visit Signature À La Carte or contact us for a custom quote.

Which platforms do you format for?

We prepare publication-ready files for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kindle, and Barnes & Noble Press. Every file is built to meet the latest specifications for its intended publishing platform.

What if I want changes after the proof?

Every edition includes a proof and revision round. We’ll refine your layout within the revisions included with your edition. If you’d like additional revisions beyond those included, they can be added at any time through Signature À La Carte.

Do I need my manuscript edited first?

We recommend it, and now we can do it for you. Formatting is the final production stage, so your manuscript should be refined before it’s set. You’re welcome to arrive already edited, or begin with Editorial Refinement, our professional copyediting service, which perfects how your book reads before we perfect how it looks.

What’s the difference between copyediting and formatting?

Copyediting, which we offer as Editorial Refinement, perfects how a book reads: clarity, consistency, rhythm, and flow, drawn out sentence by sentence with your voice left entirely intact. Formatting perfects how it looks: the typeset interior and the cover. Refinement comes first.

Will my files be ready to publish?

Yes. Every project is delivered in publication-ready formats built to the specifications of your chosen platform, so your files are ready for upload upon delivery.

From the founder

The Signature Standard

The Signature Standard is simple: exceptional writing deserves exceptional presentation.

Welcome. I’m Aniska Forbes, founder of Signature Manuscripts.

I’ve spent nearly a decade immersed in books, first as an author, then as an editor, and now helping writers prepare their work for publication. Along the way, I’ve learned that the final stage of publishing is often the one that receives the least attention, even though it’s the first thing readers experience. That care begins earlier still, at the sentence itself, in the editing that lets a writer’s voice reach the reader unclouded.

I’ve seen remarkable manuscripts undermined by rushed production, inconsistent formatting, and covers that never reflected the quality of the writing inside. Authors invest months, sometimes years, into their work. I believe the final presentation should honor that investment.

That’s why I founded Signature Manuscripts and why I work alongside a small team of publishing professionals who share the same commitment to quality, precision, and craftsmanship.

Every manuscript that enters our studio is treated with care, every page is designed with intention, and every detail is considered before your files are delivered.

That’s the Signature Standard.
