Terms & Policies

Our House Editions are priced in U.S. dollars. Editions offered through direct checkout are reserved through Stripe, with payment collected at booking. Editorial Refinement, The Founders Edition, Signature Legacy, bespoke services, and other work quoted after enquiry proceed according to the payment terms stated in the approved quote or proposal.

A project enters the House schedule after the required payment has been received, the manuscript and project materials needed to begin are complete, and the start date has been confirmed. Priority Placement and Front-of-House production are available through Signature À La Carte, subject to House availability.

No work outside the approved scope is completed or billed without the client’s approval.

The five-business-day production timeline applies to eligible House Editions after the final, approved manuscript, payment, and all required project materials have been received. It covers the design and file-production work included in the selected edition. It does not include Editorial Refinement, client review time, physical proof shipping, third-party platform review, retailer propagation, or publishing management beyond the selected scope.

Priority Placement and Front-of-House production may shorten eligible production timelines, subject to House availability. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding U.S. public holidays.

If the House is waiting for files, revision feedback, approvals, account access, or other required information, the timeline pauses until work can continue. If we have not heard from you for 60 days while awaiting materials or approval, the project may be placed on hold and closed after we contact you. A resumed project may re-enter the current production queue. Fees for completed work remain non-refundable.

Every House Edition includes the proof and revision rounds stated on its edition card, checkout description, or approved quote. One revision round means one consolidated set of feedback submitted after review of the complete proof.

Included revision rounds refine the approved direction within scope, including layout, typography, spacing, styling, cover details, and other production elements. A new creative direction, substantial manuscript changes after production begins, replacement content, added formats, or changes requested after the included rounds are complete may require a separate quote or an Additional Revision Round through Signature À La Carte.

Errors introduced by Signature Manuscripts are corrected promptly and do not count against the included revision rounds. No additional work is completed or billed without the client’s approval.

Every project we undertake is custom-produced specifically for your manuscript. Because work begins immediately and cannot be resold or transferred to another client, fees become non-refundable once production has started.

If you need to cancel before production begins, simply let us know. We’ll issue a full refund with no questions asked.

Once your proof is delivered, your included revision rounds are there to refine the work until it reflects the agreed-upon scope of your edition.

If we introduce a production error, we’ll correct it promptly at no additional charge.

If you have a concern at any stage, please contact us directly before initiating a payment dispute. We are committed to resolving issues professionally and in good faith. Chargebacks for completed custom work may be disputed with documentation of the services provided and project correspondence.

Deliverables are determined by the selected edition, service, or approved quote and are delivered digitally unless the written scope states otherwise. Depending on the engagement, deliverables may include a print-ready PDF, reflowable ebook, custom cover files, an edited manuscript in Track Changes and clean form, platform setup, ISBN registration, metadata, distribution configuration, or other items expressly listed in the selected scope.

Signature Manuscripts securely retains completed project files for 90 days after final delivery in case they need to be resent or a minor production correction is required. After that period, the files are permanently removed from our systems. Clients should maintain their own backup copies of all final deliverables.

Your book is yours. You retain full copyright and ownership of your manuscript, text, and creative content at every stage. Signature Manuscripts claims no ownership of your work.

Once your project has been delivered and payment has been received in full, all completed files created for your edition, including interior layouts and any custom cover artwork, are yours to publish, distribute, and use without restriction.

From time to time, we may showcase completed projects as part of our portfolio. If you’d prefer your project remain confidential, simply let us know before production begins, and we’ll gladly keep your work private.

Our publishing editions, Signature Launch, Signature Concierge, The Founders Edition, and Signature Legacy, include ISBN assignment and registration for the eligible formats they cover. Each format that requires its own ISBN receives one, and we coordinate the related barcode, copyright-page details, and title metadata. Essentials, Imprint, and Signature are production editions and do not include an ISBN; where you already own one, we’re glad to place it after reviewing its registration.

On our publishing editions, your book is issued under our imprint, The Signature Press, which is named as the publisher of record. This is a matter of presentation and does not affect your ownership of the work: you retain full copyright and keep all royalties.

An ISBN identifies your edition. It does not transfer ownership of your work: you retain full copyright regardless of who registers the ISBN.

You keep all royalties from the sale of your book. Signature Manuscripts charges a fixed fee for its editions and services and never takes a share of your sales, advances, or royalties.

Where an edition configures your title for a retailer or library channel, that makes your book available to order. It does not guarantee that any individual store will stock it, and platforms and retailers control their own approval and listing decisions.

For production editions, Essentials, Imprint, and Signature, your manuscript must be complete, edited, proofread, and ready for design before production begins.

When Editorial Refinement is included in your engagement, the manuscript does not need to arrive publication-ready. Editorial Refinement becomes the first stage of the project, followed by design and production once the edited manuscript has been approved.

Rewriting, developmental editing, fact-checking, permissions research, and other work not expressly included in the selected edition or approved quote remain outside the project scope.

Fixed pricing for Essentials, Imprint, and Signature applies to manuscripts up to 75,000 words. Manuscripts above that length, and projects containing extensive tables, footnotes, endnotes, citations, images, workbook pages, indexes, mathematical notation, or other technically complex elements, may require a custom quote.

Any additional fee will be presented for approval before production begins. If a fixed-price edition is purchased before the manuscript is reviewed and the revised scope is not approved, the order may be cancelled and refunded before work begins.

Signature Manuscripts is a boutique publishing house providing Editorial Refinement, custom book design, production, publication setup, distribution, and publishing support according to the edition or service selected. We prepare accepted titles to current platform specifications and manage only the stages expressly included in the approved scope. While we prepare every project with care, we cannot guarantee book sales, reviews, rankings, retailer approval, or publishing-platform acceptance.

Publishing platforms occasionally update their technical requirements. If a revision is needed because of an error introduced during our production process, we’ll correct it promptly at no additional charge. Changes resulting from retailer updates, platform policy changes, client-supplied content, or account-related issues fall outside the scope of our responsibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to our services is limited to the amount paid for the applicable edition. Signature Manuscripts is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including lost sales, royalties, business opportunities, or third-party production expenses.

If a concern arises, we ask that you contact us first. We believe most issues can be resolved quickly through open communication, and we’re committed to addressing them professionally and in good faith.

These Terms & Policies are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. Any legal proceedings relating to our services shall be brought exclusively in the courts of the State of Florida.
